Daddy and John went to swimming lessons (which by the way John loved!). It was dark when they left the building. John looked at Daddy and said “I get scared in the dark.” Daddy (of course) responded with a very adult response, “Don’t worry. If we see any bad guys, I will just give them a knuckle sandwich!” John thought this was a great idea.
When they arrived home John explained to me that Daddy would be giving bad guys knuckle sandwiches and John would then give them bad juice! Obviously, he didn’t quite understand the meaning of the phrase. The next day he also shared the story with his teachers at daycare and anyone who would listen. The story expanded to include icky Pizza as well.
Now every week as we leave the gym after swimming lessons, John starts to talk about knuckle sandwiches. And now Mommy is allowed to give bad guy knuckle sandwiches as well!
