Grandpa and Grandma Friedrichs came to visit us for the weekend. The plan was to head to the Como Zoo with the boys, but the forecast was full of rain and low temps. Since the Zoo is cheap and close we decided to risk the weather and headed to the Zoo as soon as it opened on Sunday morning.
This was a great choice . . . we had front row parking, no crowds to deal with and the low temps contributed to very active animals. We have been to the Zoo many times, but I have never seen so many animals moving around and making lots of noises.
John favorite . . .the lions roaring. One lion roared over and over and it was so loud. John was just amazed.
Nathan and John both love the monkeys, gorillas and orangutans. Why wouldn't you though . . . they are fun and active. Notice how Nathan is pointing. We knew he say the animals when he would point excitedly and make a grunting noise. He did this at every exhibit we visited.
The giraffe family was out and moving around a lot . . .eating leaves, walking around and coming amazingly close to us. This made John quite excited.

After the Zoo we headed to Como Town for some fun on the rides. John hit all the standard little kid rides (the train, teacups, firetruck) and then he insisted on going on the swings. This made Mommy incredibly nervous, but as you can see John loved it. He squealed with glee the entire time.

The boys also had some time to play with Grandpa that morning. I think everyone had a good time.
