For the Love of the game

John likes baseball . . .when Super Heroes, cartoons or dinosaurs don't catch his attention first.

Nathan LOVES baseball and it consumes his life . . .much like his father's!

Nathan is also showing signs of being left handed, so daddy immediately went out to buy the left handed glove. Daddy is pushing for that lefty pitcher!

Everyday when we get home, Nathan runs to his room and returns with his baseball, a bat and his glove. With big puppy dog eyes he comes to us and says "Pay wit me!" How can you resist that? He loves for you to throw the ball while he tries to bat. He hits a few, but that may be due to the pitcher's aim. He would do this for hours if you let him!

If we drive by a ballpark or he sees baseball on TV he screams "Baseball Guys!" Nevermind that sometimes they are actually "Softball Girls."

And we went to Daddy's softball game the other night. He stood by the fence with his ball and glove and watched so intently for almost 2 hours! Daddy of course played ball with him between innings, but I was still impressed with the patience of the 20-month old!

Daddy may definately have a ball player in his midst!

Now I know my ABC's

It's been a long time since we heard the Alphabet sung in our house. John tired of it about a year ago and only sings it if I bug him.

However, Nathan is deeply in love with this song. The first 8 letters or so are very clear and then after that it becomes more of a song of how the name of the letter kind of sounds. He gets all the way through though and is so proud of himself.

I just get a kick out of it because he sings it when he is looking at books, playing by himself, riding in the car or walking along side me. It just makes me smile!

Nathan Loves Ball

Nathan's love for the game may exceed Daddy's!
Nathan has all his attention on the game and stands quietly by the fence.
Check it out . . .Nathan is a lefty and Daddy is very excited! I see lots of pitching lessons in Nathan's future.

The little Ump

Uncle Todd had to ump a scrimmage between Daddy's team and mommy's hometown team. So John needed to experience what it is like to be an Ump.

Nathan's First Tractor Experience - Kind of

When John was about 2 we took him to the farm for a ride with Grandpa Haider in a tractor during planting. So we wanted to do the same for Nathan. Well, Nathan wanted no part in getting anywhere near the tractor. He was very excited about seeing it, but insisted on staying a safe distance away. Maybe next year!
We have a picture of John in the wheel well of a tractor tire from last year, so this year we took another. He hardly fits now. No luck getting Nathan on the tire though.

John is all smiles with Grandpa as he heads out for his ride to plant some beans.

The return of the carrots

The other day John announced that he now likes carrots. He had some at daycare and they are good, but only with the "white dip." (AKA Ranch dressing).

So I took this as an invite and sent carrots as well as white dip in his lunch. No post-it notes were sent home this time, so I assume it was a success!

Next we will work on cucumbers or broccoli maybe!

Little Imaginations

I was putting away diapers and took two boxes out and put them in the hallway to go out to the trash. John and Nathan snatched them up and headed on an adventure that included:
1. A train ride with John as the conductor and Nathan riding behind
2. Boats floating in the sea and scaring off the sharks
3. Airplane rides with plenty of diving nosies (see the live action shot below!)
Now did you know that diaper boxes were so exciting?
